Christmas Eve

I love Christmas Eve. We had so much planned for this day but my little Coco had different plans. By Christmas Eve afternoon Cohen was super sick. When he is sick he lets every one know it. His whining was at an all-time high and I was out of patience. Jeremy on the other hand was super patient but we decided to go for a drive and see if he would fall asleep. We showed Benita the tour of the city.(yes, we did dragged her down to Blanding with us - with the help of Noelle and other people bugging her to come down.) Since we were doing a live nativity with all the kids J dropped me and Benita off to help with costumes and he continued to drive around. We decided to take him into the clinic before it got too late just to see if there was any meds that would help Cohen feel better. He had labored breathing and he constantly was crying "something's wrong with my nose!" Shortly after he went to the clinic...I got The Call. I know this call because I've made it to Jeremy twice before with Olivia. They wanted to admit him. Dang.

Christmas Eve was spent in the ER with Cohen sick. He HATED putting on the oxygen mask and I have scratches up my arm to prove it. I think he even managed to kick me in the gut a couple of times. (That boy is a fighter!!) It took all I had not to break into tears myself! I don't blame him one bit. He did not want the Dr. "to do mean stuff" to him.
This X-ray photo was taken by Billy Slavens. He is Mrs. Redd's (Livvy's pre-school teacher's brother) He was great and patient with Cohen. He said Cohen's insides look good!

With Dad at his side J sent me (more like pushed me out the door) to go take care of Livvy because she was "the angel in the Christmas play" She looked so beautiful and McCoy as Baby Jesus the little play of the Christmas story was very heart touching. I couldn't help but feel the Saviors love all around me. The best part of the play is when Mary and Joseph walked into the stable (ie. garage) pulling a baby donkey for Grandpa for Christmas. (Surprise!!) Jed had wanted a donkey (I know! who wants a donkey??) It was so cute to see his face. The baby donkey was so cute and Jed loves him. I felt so sad that J and Cohen missed out. Cohen would've made a cute sheep! But Jake did a fantastic job and definitely was soo cute!

Livvy and Addi performed the song "I'm the Angel in the Christmas Play" that I taught her and she'd been practicing for weeks! She wasn't shy at all and did a fabulous job! Still I had a knot in my stomach and couldn't wait to get back to Cohen.

(It is funny how the King of the World was born in the most humble of circumstances with nothing and today people think it's their right to be entitled to certain blessings without working for them. )
Lexi made a beautiful Mary. She is 12 around Mary's age and she had many qualities that I have learned Mary has. When she held McCoy I was overwhelmed.

Cohen was doing breathing treatments about every hour and doing pretty good. He was so so cute. He was talking up a storm and everyone loved him. Grandpa and J gave him a blessing. Jed did the anointing and Cohen looked up and said, "Thank you Grandpa!" Then J give him a blessing. Cohen said, "Thank you Dad! Now just one more blessing!" (with his little finger up to show a 1) Why not??

J left for a brief moment to help Santa do some last minute things and put the stockings out and there was no way he was going to let me do it and ruin the surprise of Christmas morning. The Lyman family is known for their surprises on Christmas morning. Grandpa stayed with me at the hospital with Cohen. By 1 am we (by "we" I mean 2 nurses, grandpa me and J) were putting pressure on the Dr to let us go home. It was Christmas Eve and Santa was on his way. He said we could go if we had an oxygen machine and that it was Christmas Eve and all the places to get one were closed. But don't forget we were in Blanding and Jed just happened to know the owner of a place real well. Within 20 min we were shaking hands with David Palmer thanking him for bringing one over. As we left Cohen was saying thanks to everyone and that if he gets sick he will come back here but he won't get sick any-more. He sang "We wish you a Merry Christmas" over and over all the way home. Really no matter how I try to type it Cohen was so darling and was ready to put this experience behind him. We were off to bed thank goodness.

That wears me out just reading it! What a night! Glad Cohen is good. Those oxygen machines and little kids DO NOT mix well. You guys are so sweet.
